On Saturday 21st of October 2019 a boxer representing NUIG Boxing club was awarded an IABA All-Ireland Championship medal for the first time.

Darren O’Connor 64kg, won on a unanimous decision in the Irish final to secure the gold. This secured Darren’s place as both IABA novice and IATBA junior national champion.

Darren had the longest route to the final with his championships opening with a preliminary bout September 13th.
